Half Lotus

There are two poses frequently referred to as the Half Lotus position. The easier one is a variation of Sukasana. In Sukasana, pull the top foot all the way across onto the upper thigh instead of leaving it near the ankle. 

The other Half Lotus is a little more difficult. Sit in Vajrasana and then stretch the right leg out straight. Bend the right leg so the foot rests on the upper left thigh. You are sitting and balancing on the left heel and the right knee. The pose is sometimes done with the legs switched when specifically indicated.
